Our Solution
Our solution to solving this problem is organizing a food donation and partnering with the organization, Allies for Every Child, in order to distribute the food to low income families. Allies for Every Child assists children in low-income families with education and foster care if needed. Every spring, they hold an event called the Allies for Every Child Spring Picnic, where low income families can take fresh produce from different booths at a low cost and have a picnic. We reached out to Allies for Every Child and asked them if we could set up a booth filled with fresh produce from our families and friends' gardens. We sent out a survey to our entire school in late February asking them what they grow in their gardens and if they were willing to donate some of their produce in late March. Lots of people said they would contribute to our donation. On Thursday, March 19 and Friday, 20, 2020, we will place bins around our school campus where students can donate their produce. Once we have collected all of the donated food, we will set up a booth at the Allies for Every Child Spring Picnic. Our booth will filled with the fresh produce that was donated from our families and friends.
